The Department of Onco-Haematopathology is committed to advancing precision diagnostics and translational research in hematological malignancies. Our research integrates laboratory discoveries with clinical practice to improve disease diagnosis, risk stratification, treatment selection, and therapeutic monitoring. Through multidisciplinary collaborations and nationally and internationally funded research programmes, the department continues to develop innovative diagnostic technologies and biomarkers that directly impact patient care.
Major research areas:

Precision Hematology-Oncology: Identification of diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers using genomics, transcriptomics, single-cell technologies, and multi-omics approaches.

Advanced Diagnostics & Disease Monitoring: Development of highly sensitive flow cytometry, molecular diagnostics, liquid biopsy, and measurable residual disease (MRD) assays for hematological malignancies.

Leukemia and Multiple Myeloma Biology: Investigation of leukemic stem cells, tumour heterogeneity, clonal evolution, disease progression, and mechanisms of therapeutic resistance in hematological cancers.

Cancer Immunology & Translational Therapeutics: Research on tumour microenvironment, immune profiling, neoantigen discovery, and biomarker-driven approaches to precision immunotherapy.
