Hospital Services :

The department provides diagnostic as well as interventional radiology services to cancer patients.

Diagnostic imaging

• CT scans

• MRI

• Ultrasound

• X-ray (including fluoroscopy and portable radiography)

• Mammography, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis and Contrast Enhanced Mammography

Interventional procedures

• Biopsy and fine needle aspiration cytology under CT, ultrasound and mammography guidance

• Percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage

• Percutaneous nephrostomy

• Embolisation

• Angioplasty and stenting

• Transarterial chemoembolisation

• Nerve blocks for pain relief

• NG tube insertion and percutaneous gastrostomy

• Tumour ablative procedures

• Vacuum-assisted biopsy, clip placement and wire localisation of breast masses

• Vascular procedures such as peripherally inserted central line catheters (PICC)

Education:

We conduct interdepartmental clinic-radiological conferences with all clinical departments of BRAIRCH six days a week. In this, the imaging studies are discussed and compared. This is an important teaching as well as patient care activity of the department. In addition, faculties of the department regularly take classes for students of MD Radio-diagnosis, MD, Radiotherapy, DM Medical oncology and M Ch Surgical oncology. They also participate in teaching of undergraduate students of MBBS.
