Dr. Elavarasi Arunmozhimaran is a fellowship-trained neurologist specializing in Movement Disorders. She completed her Clinical Fellowship in Movement Disorders, Advanced Therapeutics, and Neuromodulation at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada.

In addition to formal training, she has completed clinical observerships at several centres to broaden her exposure to international movement disorders practice, including:

  • National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London, UK

  • Toronto Western Hospital, Canada

  • Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases, University of Florida, USA and

  • Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, University of British Columbia, Canada

At each site, she observed the clinical and surgical workflows used in managing movement disorders.

She has also observed several high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) procedures at HM CINAC, Madrid, Spain, under the supervision of Prof. Jose Obeso and Dr Raul Martinez Fernandes. Distinct from these observerships, she also received formal hands-on training in image-guided programming and deep brain stimulation (DBS) image post-processing at the University of Würzburg, Germany.

In addition, she completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training program at Harvard Medical School, where she received commendation for her Capstone Project.

Dr. Elavarasi earned her MBBS from Tuticorin Government Medical College under The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, graduating as the Best Outgoing Student with 14 university medals and securing the top rank in the university in 2010. She went on to complete her MD in Medicine (2011–2013) and DM in Neurology (2015–2017) from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. In 2014, she worked as a Senior Resident in the Department of Medicine at AIIMS, New Delhi. During this time, she was responsible for managing a wide range of complex cases, honing her clinical skills, and actively participating in academic teaching and research.

Following her DM, she held faculty positions at premier institutions including Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry (January–December 2018), and the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru (March–October 2019). She joined AIIMS New Delhi as an Assistant Professor in Neurology in October 2019.
