Introduction

India has now become a global scientific hub and is churning out data in various fields of research. However, is this data universally acceptable ? What can be done to ensure the global acceptability of data generated in Indian laboratories ? The answer to such questions is, “Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)”.

Towards this goal, `National GLP Compliance Monitoring Authority’ was set up in April 2002 , under Department of Science and Technology (DST), to provide recognition to test facilities involved in conducting safety studies on chemicals, as per OECD norms and principles.

Thus, it is quite evident that the upcoming scientist has to be conversant with GLP as a core competence for whatever career he chooses, academic, research or industry. In order to provide a kaleidoscopic view of GLP, a two day workshop sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, is being organized by Department of Pharmacology, A.I.I.M.S., New Delhi on 24th & 25th November 2006.

Who should attend the Workshop?
