Dear
Friends, We have now reached the sixth and final module of the National CME in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. These modules were planned such that the entire postgraduate syllabus has now been covered. The present module focuses on various aspects of Maternal Health, Obstetric Complications and Contraception. A very special addition is the introduction of a whole session devoted to Research Methodology, aimed at helping the student to select an appropriate thesis topic, as well as to execute and write it up appropriately. This will also be useful to practicing gynaecologists who wish to get more involved in active research and will help in interpreting and analysing scientific papers. As has been the pattern previously, the topics will be covered by a distinguished faculty from related disciplines in the form of lectures, practical demonstrations and panel discussions with maximal audience interaction. It will be our endeavor to refresh basic principles and provide the latest developments and advancements on the related topics. Besides, case discussions will be conducted for the benefit of those preparing for DGO/MD/DNB examinations. It has been our endeavor to incorporate the feedback and suggestions received from you. It is proposed to continue this CME program on a regular basis in future also. It is expected that the CME modules will be useful not only to postgraduate students, but also to practicing gynaecologists who wish to update themselves and recapitulate their basics. Participants have the option of registering for one or both days of the CME. The proposed topics to be covered during different modules are outlined, with details of Module 6 to be held on 10th & 11th September 2005.
