Dr. Shashi Kant

Dr. Shashi Kant joined All India institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, as Faculty member in 1992. He became Professor of Community Medicine in 2005 and has been heading the department since 2016. Apart from having post graduate degree in Community Medicine, he also possess Master level degree in Business Administration (from Delhi University), and Applied Epidemiology (from Australian National University, Canberra, Australia). He has guided more than 40 post-graduate and PhD students. He has been involved in independent research work and has published more than 100 research papers in peer reviewed journals. His special area of expertise are vaccine effectiveness trials.
Dr. Shashi Kant is widely recognized as an epidemiologist and a public health specialist. He is currently member of Scientific Advisory Committee of many government institutions of national importance. He is member of Governing Body of All India institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur. He is the past National President of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, a professional body of public health specialists. His areas of special interest are HIV/AIDS, anemia, and non-communicable diseases. He has been providing expert advice to National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) of India since 1998.
