Education
The Faculty of the Department is involved in the teaching of bio-statistical and epidemiological methods and medical demography for various undergraduate, post-graduate and para-medical courses in the Institute. These courses are run throughout each semester, each year. Some of these courses have full paper in bio-statistics. The details of these courses are given below:

Undergraduate courses |
M.B.B.S The Department offers two short basic courses in Principles of Biostatistics and Vital and Health Statistics as part of the prescribed courses extending over a period of 25 hours and includes lectures and classroom problem solving exercises. In addition, to this, two joint seminars on Fertility and Mortality Measurements and Interpretation of Life Table method and Family Planning Evaluation studies are given in collaboration with the Centre for Community Medicine (CCM) during the clinical phase of the MBBS Programme. B.Sc. (Hons.) in Medical Technology in Radiography, B.Sc (Optometry), B.Sc. (OT Technology), B.Sc (Nursing) and B.Sc (Post Certificate) 30 hours of lectures and classroom practical exercises are given in basic Statistical Techniques applicable to these areas.

Post-graduate courses
|
M.D. (Community Medicine) The following four courses of study extending over a period of 200 hours during the 3 years of the M.D. Programmes are run regularly. These courses include lectures, classroom problem solving exercises and student presentations and discussions of relevant published material.
b) Vital and Health Statistics including selected aspects of Technical Demography c) Statistics in Public Health Administration (Evaluation and operational Research) d) Statistical Methods in Epidemiology e) Statistical analysis using Stata software In addition to these regular courses, the Faculty of the Department regularly participates in Journal Club sessions and Thesis Review sessions in the Centre for Community Medicine.
M. Biotech, M.Sc. (Reproductive Biology) & M.Sc.(Nursing) For students of M. Biotech & M.Sc.(Nursing) combined course consisting of 45 hours of lectures and assignment is undertaken during the July session every year. During the course, students are taught basics of biostatistical methods relevant to their discipline. An end line evaluation of the course is done |

Research Methodology Workshop |
Department coordinates Orientation workshop four times in a year for the MD/MS/DM/MCH/MHA/MDS residents. The content of the workshop includes Orientation to AIIMS, Research Methodology and Biostatistics, Quality improvement and patient safety, Infection Control, Issues in Mental Health and Counselling and Palliative Care. The workshop duration is six full working days from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM. It is conducted every year in March and April to educate/sensitize the postgraduate students who join the Institute in January session and another in August and September for the residents who join the Institute in July session. |

Continuing Medical Education (CME) |
The Faculty of the Department regularly participates and delivers lectures under continuing medical education programmes, seminars, national and international conferences and pre-conference courses & workshops held in the Institute and at various parts of the country and abroad. |
