7. Other Research and Professional Experience:
Planned and Established the Drug Abuse Testing Laboratory at De-Addiction Centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. This is the first time such a laboratory has been established in the
country. The laboratory started functioning in June 1989.
Standardized methodologies for screening and confirmation of drugs of abuse in biological fluids and established quality control of the laboratory.
Expertise in handling operation and interpretation of results via sophisticated techniques like LC-QTOF-MS, GC-MS, HPLC, GLC, TLC, MS, ELISA, Biochemistry Autoanalyser etc.
Planning in setting up of Drug abuse Screening laboratories for other designated De-Addiction Centres of the country.

includes (screening and confirmation) for opioids (morphine, heroin, codeine, dextropropoxyphene, pentazocine, buprenorphine), opioid antagonists (naloxone, naltrexone), benzodiazepines (diazepam, oxazepam, chlordiazepoxide), Barbiturates, cannabinoids, antihistaminics (pheniramine, promethazine), cotinine, cocaine, inhalants, and Newer Psychoactive drugs. Also providing Drug abuse testing facility to community outreach clinics of All India Institute of Medical Sciences at New Delhi.
Pre-clinical Behavior Laboratory since (1994) and O/I Biochemistry Laboratory since (2012) .
Also involved in pre-clinical / clinical research work for assessing abuse potential of narcotics and new psychotropic substances.
Planned and Established a ‘Pre-clinical Behavior Laboratory in the department, for carrying out pre-clinical studies. The laboratory started functioning in 1994.
Apart from post-graduate teaching also impart training of Drug Abuse Testing in body fluids to Laboratory personnel, Doctors, Nurses of various States of the country.
Also involved in Teaching of Post Graduate Medical students of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and also guided many post-graduate medical students for M.D. thesis and Ph.D. students in the area of substance use.
Nominated as a member of Technical Advisory Committee for Tobacco testing Labs in India, by Directorate General Health Services, MOH Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi. June 2009.
Was one of the experts on Substance abuse and a potential member in WHO meeting of the guidelines development group (GDG) for the World Health Organization "Guidelines on the management of opioid overdose" held at WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland ( 19th- 20th Feb., 2014).

As a Co-PI, framed a proposal entitled “Detection of New Psychoactive Substances among Substance Abuse Treatment Seekers in India: A Multi- centric Study” in association with Centre Chief and NDDTC faculty colleagues which got approved by the Deptt of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India. A sum of Rs. 6,50,62,928 was sanctioned to NDDTC in the financial year 2016-17 for carrying out this activity at the Centre ( 2017-2022). This is the first study in the country for establishing detection methods for Newer Psychoactive Substances (NPS) in the biological specimens (urine) among Substance Abuse treatment seekers.
