Dr Jhuma Sankar completed her post-graduation training in Pediatrics as well as fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care from PGIMER, Chandigarh. She is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS, New Delhi. Previously she worked as a Senior Research associate at AIIMS, New Delhi and as Assistant professor at JIPMER, Puducherry.
Her areas of research interest include sepsis and septic shock, sepsis induced myocardial dysfunction, and mortality risk scoring systems in sick children. She has recently completed a randomized controlled trial on fluid resuscitation in children with septic shock apart from several other observation studies. She has over 35 publications in reputed national and international journals. She is the executive editor of ‘Indian Journal of Emergency Pediatrics’. She has presented over 20 papers in national and international conferences and won “Best paper awards” on multiple occasions. Her research work has been well appreciated by international audiences too.
As a key faculty of ‘Pediatric Advanced Life Support courses’, ‘Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Courses’, and National faculty in Pediatric Critical Care and Emergency conferences, she is involved in training of residents, practicing pediatricians, and junior faculty members of medical colleges and hospitals across the country.
