Trained on medical laboratories quality management system and   internal audit as per IS/ISO 15189 from National Institute of training for standardization, Bureau of Indian Standards, Noida, Delhi.

Work on various aspects of complicated pregnancy has won three awards namely Dr. C Sita Devi Award for best paper twice at Association of Clinical biochemists of India in 2010 and 2013 and International Federation of Clinical Chemistry Roche Travel Scholarship to attend and present poster at Asian Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry 2013, Bali, Indonesia 2013.

Resource person (course writer and Editor) in development of course material for Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) for IGNOU.

Research Focus of the Lab:

In the past, she has been working on various aspects of women health, to understand mainly genetic and Immunological aspect of pre-eclampsia and intra uterine growth restriction, also involving development of new treatment modalities with respect to nitric oxide. She and her team have published about seven original studies so far on this aspect. Her work on various aspect of complicated pregnancy has won three awards as mentioned above. 

Presently, she is working on biochemical, genetic and immunological host factors of tuberculosis in understanding disease pathophysiology and development of diagnostic biomarkers for identification of latent TB among household contacts. She is also involved in development of new adjuvant therapy in treatment of pulmonary TB.

Ongoing Research Project:


 -To study the expression of nitric oxide and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and their correlation with iNOS gene polymorphic variants in tuberculosis patients and controls (M.D. thesis Supervisor) (ICMR PG thesis grant)

-Study of vitamin D receptor (VDR) and Cathelicidin expression and their correlation with Fok I polymorphism in tuberculosis (Msc thesis Supervisor) (PI, Science and engineering Research board, DST YS extramural grant)

-Serum hepcidin levels: it’s correlation with ferroportin expression and localization and thus iron export in pathophysiology of pulmonary tuberculosis (PI, IMRG)

-Expression of Vitamin D Binding Protein (VDBP) and plasma concentration of Vitamin D in pulmonary tuberculosis (Supervisor STS) (STS ICMR)

1. Sudhasini Panda, PhD scholar

Sudhasini completed her B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi in 2014. She has completed her M.Sc. in Biochemistry from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in the year 2016. During her M.Sc. Dissertation, she studied the role of some of the host factors like vitamin D, Vitamin D receptor and its associated molecules in Pulmonary tuberculosis. Currently she is first year PhD. student under the guidance of Dr. Archana Singh.


2. Dr. Ambrish Tiwari, Junior Resident


Ambrish completed his MBBS from Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, Kanpur in 2012. He is a final year MD student under the guidance of Dr. Archana Singh. His MD dissertation focuses on role of  Nitric Oxide and its associated molecules in the pathophysiology of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.


3. Dr.Diravyaseelan M, Junior Resident

Diravyaseelan completed his MBBS from A.C.S. Medical college, chennai in 2014. He is first year MD student under the guidance of Dr. Archana Singh.He is working on role of Iron regulatory proteins mainly hepcidin in pathophysiology of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.


4. Krishna Kumar Sahu, M.Sc. scholar

Krishna Kumar completed  his B Sc in Biotechnology at Science College, Patna in 2015.He is a first year M sc student under the guidance of Dr.Archana Singh. He is working on role of Iron regulatory proteins focusing on ferroportin in pathophysiology of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.


5.Isha Singh, MBBS IInd Year student

 Isha is IInd year MBBS student in Aiims . she is working on Vitamin D binding protein in pathophysiology of  Pulmonary Tuberculosis.


6. Mrs. Purnima Gola, Senior Medical Lab Technician


Purnima Gola completed her B.Sc from Delhi university. She has 12 year experience in lab work in Biochemistry department of Aiims. Her nature of duties are like standardization  and estimation of various analytes via ELISA and colorimetric assay kit, Data handling and management of research samples, maintaining log book ,machine maintenance, Stock reagents, processing and keeping records of bills and other office paper work.


7. Seth Mohamad Ansari, Lab Attendant


Seth Mohamad Ansari is a certified phlebotomist and has 6 year working experience in laboratory setting in dept. of Biochemistry, Aiims. He is skilled in preparing solutions, labels tubes, specimen containers,collecting specimens and performing simple tests. Able to performs routine technical and clerical functions, operate simple lab equipment and Knows sterilization techniques
