Dr.S.Siva Chidambaram

Chief Librarian

Dr. S. Siva Chidambaram joined as a Chief Librarian in B.B. Dikshit Library, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi on December 27, 2013.  He is a highly qualified professional with M.Sc.in zoology, and B.L.I.Sc., from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. A.D.I.Sc. (Associateship in Documentation and Information Science) from DRTC (Documentation Research and Training Centre), Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Bangalore. Prior to his present assignment, Dr. Siva has worked as a Senior Library and Information Officer, Head: Library and Information Centre at National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), Ministry of Finance, New Delhi.  He also worked as Senior & Assistant Librarian at National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) from 1997-2004, New Delhi. He has working experience in the Corporate and Industrial library system from 1994 to 1997.

He has 20 years experience at different capacity in the field of Library and Information Science. He has contributed several research papers and published at conference/seminar etc. During his academic career, he has computerized several library functions and created a CD-ROM workstation, database, and Institutional Repository etc. Mr. Siva is actively associated with various professional bodies such as Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centers (IASLIC), Society for Library Professionals (SLP), Management Library and Information Network (MANLIBNET), Indian Library Association (ILA) and Special Library Association (SLA). He is an expert in Library Automation, Digital Library, Scholarly Communication and Institutional Repository etc. His current research interests includes consortia-based subscription of e-resources and digital libraries, towards this interest he has been awarded Ph.D in area of “Effectiveness in E-Access to Scholarly Journals and Databases at Special Libraries through consortia.”
