K L Wig Centre for Medical Education & Technology, AIIMS, ND Under NIH project for Bioethics Education for India, the ICMR has been conducting a series of Symposia and workshops for various levels - medical undergraduates, medical and non – medical postgraduates, researchers and faculty - in various parts of the country. Under this program, ICMR along with K L Wig Centre for Medical Education & Technology (K L Wig CMET), AIIMS, New Delhi is organizing a regional workshop on Bioethics in Health research for the Northern region. The goal of the workshop is to create awareness regarding the principles and practices of Bioethics amongst researchers, faculty members and members of Ethics Committees of the medical institutions of Northern India. The faculty will be from ICMR, AIIMS and other prestigious institutions. The workshop will also provide a platform for exchanging ideas and views. Venue: K L Wig CMET, AIIMS, New Delhi Those interested in participating in the workshop may contact Dr. Nandini K. Kumar (kumarnk@icmr.org.in) stating briefly your involvement in activities in the area of Bioethics (especially in ethics committees). Also kindly furnish your contact details (email ID, Ph/Fax nos.) to facilitate further communication. Participants will be short-listed on the basis of the strength of their application on a first come first serve basis in view of limited seats available. Travel expenses and accommodation of the selected participants will be borne by ICMR as per rules. Lodging and boarding will be provided on twin sharing basis. Heads of institutions may kindly nominate two participants from the Institution from amongst faculty members / members of Ethics Committee (permanent employees) who are involved in Biomedical Research and keenly interested and committed to promoting ethics in research and patient care. Applications may please be sent latest by the 24th of July 2006 by email. Those from NGOs or Pharma companies desirous of participating may pay registration fees of Rs. 3000/- in the form of a Draft/ Cheque in favour of DG, ICMR.
