Introduction : The Welfare Officer at AIIMS  is involved in the following multifarious welfare activities concerning patients and employees :

Patients : Counselling, redressal of grievances, arranging financial assistance for treatment, surgery and rehabilitation of poor and needy patients arranging orthopaedic aids and appliances.  Mobilization of resources for construction of dharamshalas for outstation patients, donation of ambulances etc.

Employees : Counselling, redressal of grievances, crisis management and resource mobilization.  Promotion of welfare activities for the employees with regards to their amenities such as liveries, cafeteria, cultural, recreation and sports, living conditions, etc.

Coordinating In-Service Training Program and group orientation program for employees, organizing Vocational Training Programs and Workshops for the employees and their wards, extending assistance for education and dealing with appointment on compassionate grounds.

In addition a liaison with welfare agencies and charitable organizations for promotion of patients and employees welfare activities is maintained.
