Essential qualifications & experience

Anatomy

(a) Professor of Anatomy

For Medical Candidates

i) A medical qualification included in Schedule I & II or part II of the third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 (candidates possessing the qualifications included in Part-II of the third Scheduled should also fulfill the conditions specified in Section 13(3) of the Act).

ii) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. MS in Anatomy or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

iii) 14 years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MS in Anatomy or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

For Non-Medical Candidates

i) Master’s Degree in Anatomy from a recognized Institution or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

ii) Doctorate Degree of a recognized University.

iii) 14 years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate Degree.

(b) Assistant Professor of Anatomy

For Medical Candidates

(i) & (ii) same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MS in Anatomy or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

For Non-Medical Candidates

(i) & (ii) same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for non-medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

(iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate Degree.

Biochemistry

Assistant Professor of Biochemistry

For Medical candidates

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. MD in Biochemistry or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD in Biochemistry or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

For Non-Medical candidates

i) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. Master’s Degree in Biochemistry or Chemistry or Zoology or Botany or Physics or Biophysics.

ii) Doctorate Degree of a recognized University.

iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate Degree.

Biostatistics

Assistant Professor of Biostatistics

i) Postgraduate qualification, e.g. Master’s Degree in Biostatistics/Statistics

ii) Doctorate Degree from a recognized University

iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate Degree.

Biophysics

a) Professor of Biophysics

For Medical candidates

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. MD in Biophysics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the discipline/subject.

iii) Fourteen years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD in Biophysics or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

For Non-Medical candidates

i) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. Master’s Degree in Biophysics or Chemistry or Biochemistry.

ii) Doctorate Degree from a recognized University.

iii) Fourteen years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate Degree.

(b) Assistant Professor of Biophysics

For Medical candidates

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. MD in Biophysics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the discipline/subject.

For Non-Medical candidates

i) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. Master’s Degree in Biophysics or Chemistry or Biochemistry.

Cardio-Thoracic Centre

(a) Additional Professor of Cardiology

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) D.M. in Cardiology (2 years or 3 years, or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

iii) 8 years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of D.M. in Cardiology (2 years recognized course or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

AND/OR

7 years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized course of D.M. in Cardiology or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

(b) Additional Professor of C.T.V.S.

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) M.Ch. in C.T.V.S. (2 years or 3 years, or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

iii) 8 years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.Ch. in C.T.V.S. (2 years recognized course or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

AND/OR

7 years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized course of M.Ch. in C.T.V.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) M.Ch. in C.T.V.S. (2 years or 3 years, or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

iii) One year teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.Ch. in C.T.V.S. (2 years recognized course or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or qualification recognized equivalent thereto. However, no experience is necessary for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized Degree of M.Ch. in C.T.V.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

(d) Assistant Professor of Intensive Care for CTVS including Cardiac Transplantation Programme.

i) M.B.B.S.

ii) A postgraduate qualification, i.e. MD/MS in Medical/Surgical Discipline viz. Paediatrics/Medicine/Anaesthesia/Surgery or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience after obtaining the postgraduate degree in Medical Surgical/Discipline viz. Paediatrics/Medicine/Anaesthesia/Surgery or qualification recognized equivalent thereto. Two years experience, out of the above 4 years, should be in a recognized intensive care unit providing intensive care service including post cardiac surgical patient care.

(e) Additional Professor of Hospital Administration

For Medical candidates

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) A postgraduate qualification e.g. MD/MS or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from a recognized Institution/University or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

iii) Ten years teaching and/or research experience in Hospital Administration in a recognized Institution after obtaining the qualifying postgraduate degree of MD/MS/MHA or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

For Non-Medical candidates

i) Master’s Degree in Arts/Science/Commerce from a recognized Institution or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

ii) Postgraduate qualification in Hospital Administration e.g. Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration

iii) Ten years teaching and/or research experience in Hospital Administration in a recognized Institution after obtaining the qualifying postgraduate degree in Hospital Administration or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

(f) Assistant Professor of Cardiac Anaesthesiology

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D. in Anaesthesiology or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the discipline/subject.

iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD in Anaesthesiology or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

(g) Assistant Professor of Cardiac Pathology

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D. in Pathology or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto..

(iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD in Pathology or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

College of Nursing

Lecturer in Nursing

i) Master’s’ Degree in Nursing from a recognized Institution/ University.

ii) Registered Nurse Midwife

iii) 05 years experience with a minimum of two years teaching experience in Nursing.

Centre for Community Medicine

(a) Assistant Professor of Community Medicine

i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above.

ii) A postgraduate qualification, e.g. MD in Community Medicine/Preventive & Social Medicine or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. Candidate possessing M.D. in other clinical subjects are also eligible provided that they have acquired the above essential qualification of a Degree in Community Medicine/Preventive & Social Medicine at a later stage.

iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD in Community Medicine/Preventive & Social Medicine or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto. For candidates who have done M.D. in Preventive & Social Medicine or Community Medicine in addition to MD in other Clinical subjects, half (½) of the total experience required for the post should be in the subject of Community Medicine after the candidate has acquired MD in Preventive & Social Medicine/Community Medicine.

(b) Assistant Professor of Health Education

i) A Master’s Degree from a recognized University in any of following subjects:-

Sociology, (b) Social Work, (c) Psychology (d) Public Health.

ii) A Doctorate Degree from a recognized University in any of the above subjects.

iii) Master’s Degree/A Diploma (two years)/P.G. Diploma or Master in Health Education.

iv) 03 years teaching and/or research experience in the field of Health Education after Ph.D. Experience in conducting training programme in Family Planning will be preferred.

Centre for Dental Education & Research

(a) Professor of Prosthodontics

i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948.

ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the discipline/subject.

iii) 14 years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

(b) Associate Professor of Periodontia

i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948.

ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Periodontia or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.

iii) Six years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

		(c) Associate Professor of Pedodontics	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Pedodontics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Six years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(d) Associate Professor of Community Dentistry	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Community Dentistry or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Six years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(e) Associate Professor of Oral Medicine & Radiology	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Oral Medicine & Radiology or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Six years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(f) Associate Professor of Oral Pathology	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Oral Pathology or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Six years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(g) Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology	01	(i) & (ii) same as prescribed for Assistant Professor of Cardiac Anaesthesia at Sl. No. 5 (f) above. iii) Six years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD in Anaesthesiology or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(h) Assistant Professor of Conservative Dentistry	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(i) Assistant Professor of Orthodontics	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Orthodontics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(j) Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics	02	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Prosthodontics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(k) Assistant Professor of Oral Surgery	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
		(l) Assistant Professor of Pedodontics	01	i) A Graduate Dental qualification, e.g. B.D.S. included in Part-I of Dentist Act, 1948. ii) A Postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.D.S. in Pedodontics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto. iii) Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

Endocrinology & Metabolism	Assistant Professor of Endocrinology & Metabolism	01	i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above. ii) D.M. in Endocrinology & Metabolism (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto. iii) One year teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the Degree of D.M. in Endocrinology & Metabolism ( 2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto. However, no experience is necessary for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized Degree of D.M. in Endocrinology & Metabolism or qualifications recognized equivalent thereto.

Gastroenterology	(a) Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology	02	i) Same as prescribed for Professor of Anatomy (for medical candidates) at Sl.No. 1(a) above. ii) D.M. in Gastroenterology (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto. iii) One year teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the Degree of D.M. in Gastroenterology ( 2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
