With rapid developments in the fields of immunobiology, cell biology and pharmacogenomics there has been a progressive change in clinical nephrology and therapeutics. This has led to introduction of new modalities and criteria in diagnostic renal pathology with an emphasis on clinicopathologic correlation. It is essential to know the morphologic findings in renal biopsy which may have prognostic significance and help the clinician to plan specific therapy. Detailed analysis and interpretation of renal biopsy is the most important pre-requisite to arrive at an early accurate diagnosis and treatment which will prevent irreversible renal damage. Course objectives: · Evaluate the morphologic features in renal biopsies which may have prognostic significance · Review the modalities and pitfalls in evaluation of renal allograft biopsies · Assess the role of supravital staining in urine microscopy Highlights of the course: · Intensive microscopy session and slide discussion · Practical/interactive session on urine sediment examination · Lecture on approach to renal biopsy interpretation · Thrombotic microangiopathy · Update on Banff grading system in renal allograft biopsies · Morphologic subtypes of FSGS and their significance · Current concepts in diagnosis of Lupus nephritis · Printed course material and CD of slide discussion to all delegates Who should attend? · Pathology post graduates · Junior faculty/consultants in pathology · Practitioners with interest in renal pathology
