He did the clinical fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at Melbourne University, Australia, fellowship in Cornea & Refractive Surgery at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He has done extensive work in the field of corneal diseases, cataract, Corneal transplantation, stem cell transplantation, ocular trauma and kerato-refractive surgery. His work has been extensively published in the premier peer reviewed international journals.

He has contributed several chapters to national and international books on ophthalmology and authored a number of textbooks on corneal surgery. His highly acclaimed textbook on Corneal Transplantation has gone on to become a bestseller and has been translated into Spanish language.
