Dr Alpana Sharma joined the Department in 2003. She obtained her M.Phil and Ph.D Degrees from J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University. She has worked as post doctoral fellow and Scientist at Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

Her broad area of research interests in human health and diseases include cancer research and autoimmune skin disorders pemphigus and air borne contact allergy parthenium. She is involved in studying Signaling mechanisms of angiogenesis and microenvironment in cancers (Multiple myeloma, bladder carcinoma and cervical cancer), Molecular and proteomic analysis of diagnostic biomarkers and Immunological & molecular potential of T lymphocytes and their cytokines in cancers. Her other area of research includes immunopathogenesis of skin disorders pemphigus and parthenium dermatitis.
