Prof. Kaul was awarded the 'Claris life time achievement award & oration' at the International Congress of Critical Care Med. Held in New Delhi on 8th Feb., 2002.

Prof. Kaul delivered the Prof. Pritam Singh Oration at the NZ ISACON Congress in Amritsar in Oct. 2001.

Prof. Kaul was elected as President of Asian Oceanic Society of Regional Anaesthesia during the 6th Biennial Congress held in Seoul, Korea in September, 2001. Prof. Kaul chaired a session and delivered a lecture on Regional Anaesthesia - Asian Perspective.

Prof. Kaul has invited as visiting consultant to Kuwait in Aug.-Sept., 2001 and Jan 2002 for a period of 6 weeks & 4 weeks respectively.

Prof. Kaul was an Organizing Faculty at the 1st World Congress of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine held in Barcelona, spain in June, 2002. He also conducted a workshop on "Continuous Spinal Anesthesia" and chaired a session entitled "Prevention of Chronicity of Pain".

Dr. T.S. Jayalakshmi was selected for representing Asia in the investigators meeting in Barcelona, Spain in June 2001.

Dr. T.S. Jayalakshmi was one of the Organising Faculty and Co-ordinator and group leader for the National Conference in Infection Control in Indian Hospitals - Challenges & strategies (HICCON-2001)

Dr. R.K. Batra was a visiting consultant in Kuwait in July, September and October.

Dr DK Shende presented scientific paper " Effects of peribulbar bupivacaine with or without morphine on perioperative pain and PONV in vitreoretinal surgeries" at 8th World Congress of Intensive care and Critical Care Medicine at Sydney 28 October- 1 November 2001.

Dr. Dureja has Organized monthly clinics at Spastic Society of Northern India, New Delhi for Management of Cerebral Palsy Children.

Dr. Dureja is the Editor of a Multispeciality Journal "Hospital Today". He is the Secretary of the "Research Society of Anaesthesiology Clinical pharmacology" .Dr. Dureja is the Secretary of the "Indian Society for Pain Research & Therapy".

Dr. Dureja Organized a Live Workshop on "Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Management" at the Annual Conference of ISA at Ahmedabad on 25th Dec. 2001.

Dr. Dureja was Invited to deliver 2 Guest Lectures on 'Chronic Pain Management' and 'Spinal Opioid' at the 6th Biennial Conference of Asian & Oceanic Society of Regional Anaesthesia at Seoul, Korea. He is a Member of the Post Graduate Curriculum review committee constituted by medical Council of India. He Conducted a Live Workshop on 'Cancer Pain management Techniques' at the Regional Cancer Hospital Cuttack on 6th Sept. 2001. Dr. Dureja has organized a workshop on Management of Spasticity at BIRD, SVIMS Tirupati on 10th Feb., 2002. He has organized a workshop and delivered a Guest Lecture on Spastic Cerebral Palsy : Role of Botox and Phenol Blocks at the Pediatric Neurology Conference at Trivandrum, Kerala on 7th March, 2002. He was invited to deliver a 'Oration' on Myofascial Pain at a Symposium on Myofascial Pain held at Singapore 27th - 28th March, 2001.

In the 36th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Anesthesiologist Dr. T.S. Jayalakshmi, Dr. G.P. Dureja and Dr. Ganga Prasad were elected as office bearers as President, Secretary and treasurer ) for the ISA (Delhi Chapter). During the Annual Conference, ISA, Delhi Chapter awarded the best metro ISA branch. In the mediquiz, the residents of the department bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize.
